My thoughts are edited before I think them: taut-muscle anxieties are telling me stories. My skin’s a’throwing sparks; my scalp’s a’straining. No time to stop and reflect: I’m already running. Contract. Arrest. Explode. Regret. Okay, the blood is drawn, go take break now; assess the damage done; steep in the sorrow; return to home again to ask forgiveness; pray that tomorrow’s built on reparation. Breathe. Stand back. Sift. Reflect. I say I’ve learned: is that the truth?

I won’t lie: I’d thought that I’d have known a greater peace by now. But still that moment comes, when I’m once again a stranger to myself. I won’t hide: the best I’ve ever felt is knowing you won’t leave when that moment comes, and I’m once again a stranger to myself. I turn toward you. You look upon my flaws and call me worthy.

If you need someone to hear you, I will hear you, come what may. If you need someone to see you, I will see you, come what may. If you need someone to hold you, I will hold you, come what may. If you need someone to love you, I do love you, come what may.

about

Matthew S. Rosin’s third musical release of the COVID-19 pandemic plumbs the joys and vulnerabilities of interpersonal connection and commitment through a fusion of art-rock and pop, neo-classical, field recordings, and found sounds.

Across three vocal-driven songs and four instrumental miniatures, This, Too digs into the difficult but essential work each of us does to accept ourselves and cherish those we love.

This, Too is released digitally by Rosin’s Meristem Music.
