about

Months after my first wave of post-COVID brain fog and fatigue, another wave arrived. It has not yet departed.

As before, drones were a balm for what hurt, so again I began shaping sounds to resonate with my brain fog.

This time, I created cassette tape loops using a Tascam Portastudio 424 and an old entry-level synth. Then I shaped the resulting array of sounds, alongside my own field recordings. into three evocative and uncomfortable pieces of ambient drone.

These pieces—each a blend of tactile tape-work and digital sonic coaxing—are journeys without resolution, and this is as it should be, given the discomfort that spurred the music into being.

May we all be healthy. May we all be well.
